How to use the St Patrick’s Day EFL lesson
In the lesson, there is a short St Patrick’s Day quiz to get students warmed up, then an ISE style reading. The students first read the text quickly to check their answers to the quiz, and then they complete 15 questions, as in the ISE exam. There are 5 paragraph-matching questions, 5 true statements to choose, and then 5 sentences to complete.
Following this, there are some discussion questions about students’ own experiences of St Patrick’s Day and other national festivals, followed by a Task 4 Extended writing style prompt.
